Welcome to the sixteenth annual INVASION from DreamslayerArtworks. We at DSA have proudly brought this contest to you for so long that some of you who may participate weren't even born when this contest began. Sixteen years and since this contest first began, many advances have been made in the fields of science and technology that the world of today includes many realities that were only dreams and possibilities when this contest first took flight. So, what exactly is INVASION? It is a contest honoring the dreams and imagination of people who see the possibilities... and then, make those possibilities happen. One of my fondest childhood memories was watching Star Trek in syndication exploring the universe with Captain Kirk and Spock. In real time, I remember Buck Rogers which brought science fiction back to Earth. I remember Close Encounters of the Third Kind and my first look at Star Wars in scifi magazines. But, one of the biggest experiences in my early childhood that made the biggest impact was a tv series called V where Earth was invaded by an alien species promisi and sharing their science with us... then we discovered they were actually reptiles here to devour us as a food supply lol.

Science fiction has ancient roots going back to the time of the ancient Greeks and Persians who dreamed of automatons... then created them! But, what we know as science fiction only came into its own in the 19th century with men like H.G. Wells. In the 20th century, science fiction emerged as a leading form of entertainment both inspired by real science, and inspiring real science. The 21rst century is bringing about a new age where the lines between science and fiction are being further blurred with advances in medical science, artificial intelligence and technology taking place today that were only dreams of a far flung future just a generation ago. Things that were only possible on Buck Rogers in the 25th century have already taken place in the 21rst making science fiction itself obsolete and antiquated. We live in a world where holograms, cyborgs, cloning and so much more are a reality that people in the 20th century thought they would never see in their lifetimes. And yet, here we are in a world where such things are becoming commonplace and even regrowing missing body parts is now a reality using pig bladders.

DreamslayerArtworks celebrates science fiction each year with a month long contest devoted to a theme of science fiction we like to call INVASION. The theme is science fiction so that your art must reflect this concept in some manner. While it doesn't have to be an invasion theme per se, there is an enormous catalog of ideas which immediately come to mind. War of the Worlds, Ming the Merciless, Independence Day, Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, Star Trek, etc, etc., to name but a few. Invasions can happen across time, space and dimension such as with Terminator or even more abstract concepts like The Mist which seems more a horror story until you realize the creatures are coming from another dimension because of some scientific experiment at a military base. Frankenstein would be considered gothic horror until you examine the science and technology in the story making it early science fiction. New directions for science fiction require new imagination and taking what's already there to an all new level with better technologies using computer graphics that are so realistic and have advanced so far that the only real problem is there isn't enough time given to meet the demand.

Mutants, cyborgs and ghosts in the machine... science fiction offers limitless possibilities which only your imagination can transform from thought, to visual arts that everyone can share and enjoy. Whether its a beautiful alien pinup or a cyborg apocalypse, the future or the past, dreams or reality. You are the artist and it's from your imagination that reality will be transformed as what you dream today... the world could bring forth as reality tomorrow. Cloned mammoths could roam Siberian grasslands, the first lunar base on the Moon and the first fully autonomous artificial intelligence are all possible within our lifetime. We at DreamslayerArtworks hope that you will join withus and invite your friends as we hope to have a great turnout for this years event and we thank all our members for participating.

IMPORTANT: ALL Prize lists MUST be in within TWO days after the contest is over. please remember to include prizes in order that you might like them along with links to the items you want unless its a gift card item, email address and usernames and for software/shippable items please include real names and home address thank you

1) First and foremost, we want everyone to enter. If you do not wish a prize but want to participate in the spirit of showcasing your talent, we will be creating a list of those members who will officially receive a DSA No Prize. We've had trouble in the past where members enter who actually do not want to win. These members don't want to take anything away from members who are participating to win prizes and we've had issues in the past where we tried to accommodate these members but not every judge understood or read comments by the artist not to choose their image. When the official contest topic is posted, we would like any member who only wants to participate in the spirit of competition to contact us and we will officially add them to the No Prize list.

2) Your images must follow the theme to the best of your ability. But how you do this is up to your individual creativity and imagination. So ask if you have questions about the theme.

3) There is a post limit of one image a day... no reworks as all images must be original for this contest. Try adding different races and different cultures... explore the variety that makes up who and what we are.

4) Images cannot be posted anywhere else for five days and must include links to this contest or statements that it is for this contest.
A) Images posted late will be excluded from judging

5) Artistic nudity is allowed but our rules on child nudity apply. No child nudity is allowed. This is defined as genitals and nip's so cover them up or risk violating our rules. A good alternative would be anime.

6) The contest is open to any medium that you wish to use. You can enter with Computer generated images, hand drawn, painted, or any other type of medium you can think of. Make note of the prizes being offered as only rarely might they not be 3d oriented.

7) We consider it trolling if criticism about content is made when images are within the rules.

Unless otherwise specified, make sure to add an alternate prize selection should you want a bundle or partnered item. Some of our sponsors allow this, some do not and some may on certain items of which we have no way of knowing.

9) Consider adding some written text to explain your illustrations to help others better understand your image and leave comments on the entries of fellow contestants to show your appreciation.

10) Make sure to check and see if the prize you have won is a coupon or a gift certificate. If it clearly says it is a coupon, do not apply it as a gift certificate at the sponsors site or vice versa.

11) The theme should focus on images inspired by what you consider to be invasion with scifi theme

12) Include the following information ~

A) Username (for DSA and sponsors site)
B) Email Address
C) Real Name & Physical Mailing Address (for software and physical prizes)

13) Beginning June 1st, 2015; At the end of the month contests will be judged within 7 business days. Winners will be contacted but are also expected to check back in to avoid oversights barring unforeseen circumstances.

Again, please click the link at the top of the rules list to view the page set aside for this specific rule and discussion.

14) Winners will provide a list including each sponsor in order that they would like to have the prizes. We will then choose what prizes you win on a first come, first serve basis. Our First Place winner will receive the first item on their list which will be removed from all other winners lists. Our Second Place winner will be given the first item remaining on their list and so forth. When each winner has been awarded a prize, we will begin again with the First Place winner until all prizes are awarded.

A) Our normal monthly contests will have 5 winners. Our larger contests will have up to 31 winners. We will alert members should this change at any time or if the sponsors have alerted us to award items to runners up.

B) You may provide a list to us at any time during the month. Providing the list does not guarantee a prize. Items given to runners up, if any, will come from these lists or be donated by prize winners.

15) If you do not provide the items you would like where you have won a "choice" of items from the sponsor, on the list you provide to us, you will have 5 business days after notification to contact us. It is unfair that, in cases where a sponsor provides a prize to multiple winners, that winners who reply quickly must wait of winners who reply late.

16) Remember, if you have any questions, please ask them in the contest topic so that staff or fellow members can explain and help you to understand rules or themes in our competition

With scifi, you can gain your inspiration from almost anywhere such as this beautiful music video by Rihanna

Westworld is an exclusive theme park where those who can afford a ticket can live without limits. Partners Arnold Weber and Robert Ford created lifelike robots that pass for humans called hosts. The hosts allow guests to live out their fantasies (without harming humans) in the park. Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, explore a world in which every human appetite can be indulged without consequence.

If 30 members enter the contest, one of you can choose Westworld Season One as part of your booty. This was before the series went a little wonky in Season Two and it was an extremely good show.

OK, how do I upload an image to the gallery?  I don't see anywhere in the gallery where I can upload for this competition.

How many images can we enter?  I know it's one a day but can you enter every day in July?  The images so far are amazing.

Enter daily but they have to be new images. If anyone posts older images and we find out, those images will be disqualified and they may be eliminated from the contest.

K.. thanks Armorbeast.  :-*
