    The Dead King

Gideon Xanthos was a troubled youth who beat two men to death for trying to rape his mother and fled into the streets to escape authorities. At the tender age of ten, he made a name for himself as a knee breaker and thief until meeting a fellow runaway named Samantha. Where alone they might have accomplished little, together they took full advantage of their ability to manipulate others and the opportunities provided by a life of crime. Using street people to invest their ill-gotten gains provided a measure of wealth until Gideon murdered someone over a doublecross. Going into hiding in the countryside, they found work as farm labor where Gideon decided to do a little graverobbing after seeing a wealthy heiress buried with her jewelry.

As the sweltering Summers day grew dark and the night grew chill, he set to the task before him. When he reached the casket, an unfamiliar woman's voice caught his attention. At this point, there was no way he wasn't coming out of this hole without the jewels in the dead woman's possession. The next thing he remembered was waking the next morning with a groundskeeper prodding him with his shovel. Looking about, he saw that the woman's grave appeared undisturbed and bolted away before the groundskeeper took his belt to him for trespassing as he was threatening to do. Arriving back at the barn where Samantha was waiting, Gideon found the jewelry in his pockets and he could only look perplexingly into her eyes more confused than ever.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Growing to adulthood, Gideon became a colder person uncaring for those he hurt as all that mattered to him was money, power and Samantha. The two would attend college, marry and then embark on careers in law specifically focusing on the criminal element. Gideon became known as a fixer whotook over the operations of certain clients to form his own criminal empire. If he couldn't buy people off, he had other means available including ordering a hit to eliminate the problem by eliminating the people. Never content to be anything but the best, he founded a corporation called Xanthos to compel respect from others who thought him unworthy of anything but contempt.

This would lead to him being contacted by members of the Dracō Crime Syndicate, who provided an invitation to meet with them. His reputation for success as a fixer earned him the respect of syndicate Boss Don Drago. Becoming an Underboss called Dragonlord, Gideon then assassinated Don Drago to take both his identity and control over the syndicate. Gideon was to discover, however, that he was now a pawn to a group of international power brokers calling themselves the Black Rose Society and answered directly to one of its members calling himself Typhon. Forming an alliance with Black Rose member ńm-kiej (Poison Spider), they successfully lured Typhon into a trap where Gideon killed him to gain possession of his grimoire.

He had been promised Typhons place within the Black Rose Society but realized ńm-kiej thought him a fool. She had wanted Typhons grimoire for her own and believed she could control Gideon to get it for her. Gideon never lacked for confidence and found he could command the grimoire's power to teleport him away to parts unknown. Gathering himself, Gideon found that he was back in the graveyard from that dark night so long ago and events from that night now returned to him. He remembered emerging from the grave to find himself facing a spirit dressed in Victorian clothing. Oddly, the woman had pointed ears and what looked like insect antennae on her forehead revealing something not quite human about her.

She would explain that she had chosen him to receive the bleeding rose held in her hand and, having accepted it, blacked out. In that moment, his soul left his body but had not been completely ready to abandon Samantha. What survived was a soulless man, a thing of flesh and blood surviving only because of the love he possessed for his girlfriend. It was the power of the rose that had preserved him and which now gave him the power to control the grimoire in his possession. Allowing the power of the grimoire to fill him, Gideon assumed Typhons place within the Black Rose Society and determined to destroy anyone who got in his way. He was also to learn about the Worlds of Shadow and the power of the Black Zodiac of which his sign was Draco the Dragon.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gideon quickly mastered the sorcerous power within the grimoire in his possession and proved himself a threat to take over the Black Rose Society. This had been what ńm-kiej coveted most and she knew his one vulnerability which she finally exploited. Kidnapping Samantha and poisoning her near to death with a venomous bite to the throat, it was all Gideon could do to use his powers to preserve her life. Summoning forth a bleeding rose entwined around a black from his grimoire, he placed it in Samanthas' hand only to watch her dissolve away before his eyes. Without the power of the rose within him to preserve his own existence, Gideon was soon to follow unknowing if he had saved his beloved... or destroyed her utterly!

Awakening to find himself within a darkened enclosure, Gideon held his hand before his face as the brightness of the morning almost blinded him. He was confronted by a caretaker who had tended to him for the past several weeks while he lay unconscious. In answer to his questions about Samantha, it was explained that he was in a ruined castle and that the answers he sought lay in the catacombs below. He would be led into the catacombs where he was abandoned to find his own way with only a disembodied voice to guide him. At the heart of the catacombs, he found himself before a gigantic nest which Gideon caused to burn away revealing an amber core, within which, he could make out a figure who responded to his presence.

With Samantha at his side, they returned to the ruined castle high in the mountains and began its restoration. Watching from its ramparts, he wondered at what this new world had to offer and what they might take from it. Word of Gideons' arrival was spreading primarily because of the intricate and distinctive body art which he started in his teenage years. This body suit was known from surviving art of the First Lord Magistrate of Wyvernia... and those who came after him claiming to be the Black Dragon Emperor. But Gideon made no such claims as that was for others to assume of him even if he did nothing to dissuade them. While incomplete, it covered his entire body except for the right front of his torso, hands and face with dragons everywhere.

Soon, he had an army ready to fight for him and the peoples of this world readied themselves for a war they were sure to be forthcoming. But Gideon saw no profit in needlessly wasting his resources (a lesson learned from his time as a crimelord) and there was more to gain in buying alliances than fighting a war. When war did come, he practiced a strategy based on attrition using minimal force and guerrilla tactics to exhaust his enemies before overwhelming them. The Kingdom of Koth coalesced into being from this and he was now a king with Samantha, now calling herself Vespa, as his queen. Known as the Black King of Koth to his enemies, he preferred to be called Dragonlord or Dragon King where Vespa embraced being called the Black Queen of Koth.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Both proved bloodthirsty in their battles against those opposing them, but merciful to a defeated enemy once their leaders were put to death. But Gideon was a troubled man still being advised by a disembodied voice and having dreams of phantom armies commanded by a boy king clad in an armor-plated dress. During one of his greatest battles to date, a dense field of fog separated him from his armies and the boy from his dreams came to him as if forming from the mists. Following after him, Gideon found himself within a darkened chamber lit only by torchlight as the fog dissipated from around him. Before him, he saw the child standing to the right of and a young woman standing to the left of a sitting figure introduced to him as true Black Dragon Emperor.

The woman revealed that she was his daughter and that she was the disembodied voice that had been speaking to him. Even as he tried to lend voice to his bewilderment (because he had no children), she further informed him that he, the boy and the sitting figure were all one and the same. It was at this moment that the boy took a beautiful crimson/obsidian sword from the sitting figure. Presenting the sword to Gideon, a sinister smile formed across the boys face as he and his surroundings faded once more into fog and darkness. Finding himself once more on the field of battle, he mounted his steed Ironmane to rejoin his armies as the fog once more lifted from him.

Finding the sword still in his possession, he retired from battle as he could feel the boy inside of him and that the soul once removed had been restored to him. The boys name had been Y Ddraig Duach (The Black Dragon), an ironic name for a dark prince and master manipulator who murdered his way to power. Before killing his mother on this world, she placed upon him an unintentional curse that he would always be the angelic child she gave birth to. He would never mature into a man and was seen as little more than an impetuous brat until becoming something far more fearsome. Journeying to Můnmorŗth, the Graveyard of Dragons and sank beneath the bonefields depths.

Transformed by a black fungal cesspool that had formed from the decay of millions of dragons over millions of years, Y Ddraig Duach exploded from below like an erupting volcano. He had become an enormous black dragon rampaging across this world until finally slain by the Red Dragon Emperor; Y Ddraig Goch wielding the sword "Llofrudd Ddraig" (slayer of dragons). Even his scent had changed as while his Queen smelled like honey, Gideon now smelled like a sickening combination of burning flesh and the fragrant aroma of decaying roses. The stench was so powerful that it hung around him like smoke and could kill those close to him if they did not protect themselves.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While he possessed everything a man could ever want, Gideon was no longer just a man having become a demonic half-god wasting away beneath his armor. Little remained beyond bone and leathery skin leading him to seek a cure and ignoring advice when a forbidden power became known to him that might achieve it. Warned that not even he might possess this power only led him to desire it more and when his enemies learned what he was after, they would do everything in their power to stop him. Gideon would not be denied his prize and holding it high to command its power, was himself surprised when it became a writhing ball of serpents that hungrily burrowed beneath his flesh.

Forced to withdraw to his castle, he would be sealed off within his throne room by Vespa who would then rule in his name. When asked what had become of their ruler, Vespa informed them what had become of him but that the Dead King was still ruler and she merely carried out his will. Should they ever doubt Vespa, she would deal with them harshly or even send them into the kings chamber where he would deal with them himself. True to her word. Gideon was not dead in the truest sense of the word. Within his brain there had existed a bloodstone and within it existed a great valley where his soul yet resided. Any sent into his chamber would face him, the nightmares within his mind or even be slain by him because he was unforgiving of any to disturb his rest.

Using sorcery to secure his seed, Vespa made herself pregnant and would later give birth to a daughter named Tamron. This was the daughter Gideon had not known and her ability to speak with spirits through their bones made her perfect to attend her father. She was the one who learned Gideon was experiencing an altered state of consciousness stemming from the chain of events that had befallen him. While his body and soul were created upon Earth, the flesh of Y Ddraig Duach was created upon Wyvernia containing dna stretching back to the very formation of this world. Gideon was bearing witness to fragments of these lives as if they were his own... because that's what they were becoming!

He would witness when the Dark One battled the Great Beast Zomok and when the lands rose into the skies leaving a vast ocean below and the Age of Dragons which would define this world. Then came D'spayre spreading across the world like a blanket of darkness. D'spayre had been formed when the Dark One crushed Zomoks eye and it became a living force of elemental storms unable to act on her own. Sensing his presence, D'spayre used her powers to entrap him as a thrall not understanding how strongly he would resist this. His powers were now bound within his soul and the outward manifestation of this would be the tattoing that resurfaced upon the host body she had chosen for him.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

D'spayre would be the one who gave him the name Black Dragon Emperor and it was through that the First Imperial House, the Imperial House of Dragons, would be created. A vast period of chaos and destruction would follow where the Black Dragon Emperors brutal authority was often the only controlling influence. The would-be thrall even gained control over his one-time master leading her to join with his enemies as his powers outstripped her own. When the Black Dragon Emperor finally fell in defeat, it would only be because virtually the entire world had united against him. Slain in his dragon form, his remains were delivered to Můnmorŗth though sorcery but he would return many times through the bloodline he fathered.

That bloodline was thought extirpated but traces of it would survive passing down within the veins of Y Ddraig Duach's mother. When he reunited with the dragons remains buried at Můnmorŗth, he began to realize an element of time was at work that became even more clear when his "daughter" Tamron made herself known to his spirit. Vespa was first to adopt the Ouroboros as their standard when her husband made her aware of this and it was this standard which she wielded during the war to conquer the Imperial House of Victorian Night. The Ouroboros was a perfect symbol for a man whose very existence was born from a circle of time symbolized by a serpentine dragon devouring its own tail.

Breaching the walls of an Imperial House was always difficult to impossible because they existed like a world inside a world whose walls were massive and near unbreakable. But, the Dead King had once possessed the means to achieve this with an object of such power that it brought about the destruction of the First Imperial House. Called the Hammer of Dragons, it had been the core of a moon called down by Zomok to strike the Dark One a devastating blow. Gideon bore witness to this and how the Dark One hurled the core back at Zomok so that the power of both beings lay within it. But it was the Black Dragon Emperor who created the object to maintain his rule and D'spayre finally wrested it from him using it to destroy herself and the Imperial House of Dragons.

Fate had interceded, however, as the Imperial House of Dragons had survived hidden within Drakenoir and D'spayre would resurrect herself as well. Vespa undertook the journey to secure the Hammer of Dragons and his daughter Tamron provided it to him. But it would be the Dead King himself who used its power emerging above the Imperial House and calling down a series of asteroids to strike it until its walls were shattered. However, this use of power had depleted him and left the Dead King in need of assistance himself. Taken high into the mountains of the Imperial House, it would be Tamron who opened doorways allowing the Dead King to sit once more upon his own throne.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Proclaiming the Dead King as Lord Magistrate, Vespa assumed her role as figurehead on his behalf once again. But she would call herself the Black Dragon Emperess where her husband abandoned his identity as the Black Dragon Emperor. His daughter Tamron would describe it as "All paths lead to one," his many lives giving birth to the only one that remains. Whatever he had been in the past, he was now the Dead King after an exceptionally long and difficult journey. Above his head floats the Hammer of Dragons as a molten sphere granting him its powers of absolute destruction supercharging his sorcerous powers. Within the Kings Chamber, this power is absolute and anyone journeying within becomes subject to whatever nightmares he might inflict upon them.

While trapped within a decayed form unable to escape, that's not to say there aren't "others" yet within him that can. From the bloodstone in his mind, his emotions and aspects of his personality can manifest taking the appearance of past lives. Each of these can be manifested externally as energy and while they behave differently from one another, the Dead King chooses which best suits the purpose he has for them. As he revealed when he shattered the walls of the Imperial House of Victorian Night, the Dead King can animate his body to personally carry out his wishes. But the degree of power this takes from him is so great that he can deplete himself in this form whereas his energy forms seem to short-circuit when their power is too great or too low.

    ----------------------------------------------
    Black Dragon Emperess

    ----------------------------------------------

Samantha Wright was born in Crowthorne England before her parents moved them to London. Her parents were involved in organized crime and her father was killed as a result while her mother would be sent to prison. Rather than accept being put with a family who didn't want her or into foster care, Samantha ran away into the streets surviving with the aid of her parents' friends and associates. Being biracial gave her a more exotic appearance which might ultimately have led her into a life of prostitution and drugs. Her life changed one stormy night when she found herself facing a knife-wielding thug only to be rescued by a boy not much younger than herself wielding a broken two-by-four.

She would follow him to a vacant building where he had made a home for himself and there, he introduced himself as Gideon Xanthos. They were to discover that they had much in common as both were runaways who had fathers who had immigrated to England from other countries. It was Samantha who had connections to organized crime, but it was Gideon who had the ambition to make something with it. Samantha also had a desire to help others on the street and it was through her contacts that Gideon created a criminal network. Essential to this was the ability to manipulate others and to use street people to portray their parents to invest their ill-gotten assets. This would also allow them to attend school until graduating, getting married and going to college.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Where Gideon focused more on building their criminal enterprise, Samantha kept her focus on the streets and helping others she was familiar with. She became a lawyer and used her talents to keep Gideons operations clean no matter how dirty they got. But as Gideons power grew, Samantha became more and more a liability because his love for her made her a target. More than once she escaped death either from rival organizations or those with a grudge against her husband. She had been shot, stabbed and hit by a car before finally becoming less visible doing her job through proxies. When Gideon became part of the Draco Crime Syndicate, she adopted the identity of being the Dragon Lady known for using poison and incendiary devices as weapons.

It would be when Gideon became head of the Draco Crime Syndicate that things took a turn for the worse. He now answered to a shadowy figure called Typhon whose own agenda proved more important and for which Gideon was expected to make sacrifices. This led him into an alliance with a woman called ńm-kiej who Samantha could sense was using Gideon against Typhon but was only using him for her own ends. Gideon had always trusted Samantha's instincts and was prepared when the moment came to act for his own survival. ńm-kiej would eventually get her revenge by kidnapping Samantha to use as a bargaining chip to get what she wanted. Failing in this, she poisoned Samantha with a bite to the throat and threw her at Gideon to make her escape.

While Gideons first instinct may have been to pursue after her attacker, he immediately turned to Samantha. Gideon possessed a grimoire, a book of spells, which he acquired by killing Typhon. It had been this book that ńm-kiej desired and it was the powers within its pages that Gideon used to preserve Samantha's life. There was no cure for ńm-kiej's bite as all Gideon could do was prolong her life and then face her inevitable death. But, there was a possibility. Gideon was a soulless man whose own life had been prolonged by the power of a bleeding rose and he would summon that power from within him. Within the grimoire existed another such rose which had been pressed into its pages turning black in the process and creating the power within it.

With the two roses summoned forth and entwined around one another, Gideon opened a doorway to another world into which Samantha would be cast. When she awakened, Samantha found herself barely able to move as she had become encased in what seemed to be a thick, honey-like substance. She could feel a burning sensation throughout her body but without the pain one would expect of it. Although she could see little more than shadows, she became increasingly aware of her surroundings outside the amber walls that constrained her. There were enormous stinging wasps flying about and creatures she thought were zombies with golden skin. How she knew this Samantha wouldn't know as it just seemed to come to her over the several weeks she lay imprisoned.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A period of darkness then befell her before she could see that darkness burned away and a figure standing before her prison. She not only saw him, but she could see into him finding before her a man without a soul and plunged her arm forward pulling Gideon in with her. Engaging Gideon in a passionate embrace, Samantha at last felt hope as the man she loved had found her and was soon to set her free. When she pulled herself up from the floor that was now covered in honey, she would finally see what had become of her. She could now see through her skin which was golden and translucent like honey. Her bones were now visible to her and she had wings like a wasp upon her back with antennae on her forehead.

Emerging to find herself in the castle ruins above, she was introduced to those who had taken care of Gideon while he himself lay unconscious. It would be they who told her of their belief that Gideon was the reincarnation of the Black Dragon Emperor and what they knew had become of her. Calling herself Vespa (Wasp), Samantha differed from the creatures which now served her as she had been preserved by the power of a bleeding rose mixed with black. Teaching her to grow new flesh to conceal what lay beneath it, she accepted the title of being the Black Queen of Koth while jokingly calling herself the Killer Queen before becoming known as the Black Dragon Emperess.

She would earn a bloodthirsty reputation waging war to put down insurrections and sedition where it erupted after her husbands' conquests. But she always took the secondary role as she had on the World of Man because she viewed their relationship as a partnership. Vespa took on the role of cleaning up the loose ends where her husband took the greatest risks and eliminated obstacles before them. Where Gideon blazed a trail, she put out the fires that sparked up by his passing and made sure he wouldn't need to worry about who was watching his back. This was not a world in need of lawyers she believed, it was a world in need of conquest and law givers with the power to enforce the laws they created.

When Gideon became physically merged with that of the boy Y Ddraig Duach, Vespa would take on a much greater role as the leader of his armies. At this point, she was well aware of the Imperial House and that true power over this world was held by the Lord Magistrate who ruled over it. Setting her sights on nothing less than its conquest, she would march against its walls only to find that they were impregnable. By her hand, kingdoms would fall and opposing armies became bowed and broken... and yet, the Imperial House was beyond her abilities to penetrate. Seeking an alliance with another who laid claim to the Imperial House, Vespa instead found herself in a seemingly endless war against Balor of the Evil Eye and the Fomorians.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vespa would begin a journey to find a mythical pathway to the ruins of the First Imperial House, the Imperial House of Dragons, hidden somewhere within Drakenoir itself. Finding it, she fought her way past all who came against her before finding herself before the Dragon Emperor. This ancient dragon was oath-bound to serve the Black Dragon Emperor whose position he had inherited after this Imperial House met its fate. Although injured and weakened by her struggles, she held her husbands' sword and through it delivered his commands. With an army of dragons and dragon-men now following her, the Black Dragon Emperess returned to defeat Balor and the Fomorians.

Rather than continuing her war against the walls of the Imperial House, she now possessed an object once belonging to the Black Dragon Emperor. It was an object of terrible power which had been taken from him and used against the Imperial House of Dragons. Returning it to him, the Dead King struck a decisive blow from high above the Imperial House of Victorian Night. its walls now shattered, Vespa's armies flowed through the breaches where she gave orders to behead their leaders. Placing the severed head upon her husbands lap, he removed the crown and laid claim to the title of Imperial Magistrate as his own. She, however, would assume the role of figurehead ruling in his name as Vice-Magistrate and sometimes as the Dead Queen.

The story of the Dead King might be summed up as a story about the cycles of time and at the center of this story would be a seemingly innocuous woman named Tamron Li-Xiao (aka Bai Gu Jing, 白骨精, White Bone Spirit). She is the only child of Gideon Xanthos and his wife Samantha Wright Xanthos, the Dead King and his Dead Queen! Her conception was brought about after her father became withered and her mother used sorcery to secure his seed. They had always feared to have a child because of their own violent lives and how that violence had affected them as children. But now, her mother had overcome those fears and it was just an issue of timing which she now made for this purpose.

Her mother would even ride into battle while pregnant and give birth while surrounded by piles of the dead and dying. She would entrust her child to others who were to raise the girl whose surname had been that of her mothers' father. Tamron inherited her mothers' translucent skin but hers was white where her mothers was gold like honey. Where her mother was wasp-like, she was more a dragon like her father... a ghost dragon she would be called. Like her mother, she learned to create another layer of skin to conceal her true appearance and look more "normal" whatever that might be in this particular family. Tamron would be well educated by tutors in many arts and while her names were known, most called her Princess as that's what her father was said to call her.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even as a child, Tamron would be placed in her fathers' lap where it was clear she could communicate with him. As she grew older, she grew more powerful and more knowledgeable so that she would become a weaver of sorcerous spells on her fathers' behalf. Becoming his High Vizier early in life, Tamron revealed great ability as a seer which was made even greater by a book called the Oni no uta (Song of Demons). Entrusted as its keeper, Tamron discovered it to be a book from the deepest recesses of her fathers' mind from the events he had experienced, and knowledge he had acquired. With no written history from the dark ages of the First Imperial Magistrate beyond scattered fragments, the Oni no Uta proved an invaluable tool in her hands.

Through it, she could access hidden knowledge known only to her father by accessing a bloodstone that physically existed within his brain. It formed and then reformed from a recurring blood clot forming within his mind through each incarnation of his existence. While she prefers using the Oni no Uta, Tamron can cast her spirit within the bloodstone where she finds manifestations of her fathers' psych to engage and gain what she needs by more direct methods. While primarily serving as her fathers caretaker, any who cross her or become a recognized threat will find that she has inherited much of her parents power... and the ruthlessness to use it to full effect!

Ironically enough, she would first introduce herself to her father as a teenaged girl serving as a disembodied voice giving him directions. It was her voice that led him to where her mother was being healed even as she was the one who directed the wasps to heal her mother. Tamron then used her voice to aid her father in his wars and then into the fog where he would meet her for the first time. Already acquainted with Y Ddraig Duach who she saw more as a brother than as an incarnation of her father and it was through her actions that the two would be merged. Essentially, she was what her father called an Arranger which was similar to his original role within the Draco Crime Syndicate but with far greater authority.

As an Arranger, it had been her role to serve as a link within the enigma of time where existence is concerned. She would be an aspect of Fate connecting to her father through the bloodstone in his head. At some point, her ability to do this ceased but her abilities to see places and events far from where she stood at her fathers' side would then become more powerful. Tamron could then inform her father of things that might require his attention to let him decide or to inform her mother who might then act on his behalf. Her abilities require that she herself be aware and searching for these things as they do not just make themselves known to her. Her second sight abilities can even be blocked forcing her to try seeing through the eyes of others she connects with.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another power Tamron possesses is the ability to create doppelgšngers which she controls and which, under certain conditions, she can use to control others. Her own doppelgšnger often takes the form of a demonic creature which she views as a means to unleash her more malevolent nature. This allows her to remain more clear-headed and focused on the tasks before her. While she is capable of dark and evil things, she understands this makes her more self-serving and prideful which more easily undoes her. Calling her doppelgšnger Shi no Akuma (死の悪魔), she primarily unleashes her to bedevil others and to manipulate events.

When the Imperial House of Victorian Night fell to her parents, Tamron would prove instrumental to success. She opened doorways allowing her father to gain possession of an object of great power and then allowing him to use it striking from above. She would then open new doorways so that he might return home and then, to literally pull the castle from which he ruled from one mountain beyond the Imperial House to one within. Yet, for all her power, Tamron seems to have no personal want to rule and is devoted to her parents. The closest thing to any personal rule she wields is when commanding others in her parents name and a cult following that worships her as Gōsutodoragon (ゴーストドラゴン) to win her favor... and often, if she is aware of them, she will grant it.

Legend tells of a young sorceress named Aelish whose beauty was coveted by a handsome prince. However, she was to remain chaste and virginal by order of the Queen because she was a healer. Disobeying his mother, the prince gave in to his lusts and ravaged Aelish who he then cast aside. When the Queen learned of this, she forced her son to marry a woman he didn't love and banished Aelish to conceal what he had done. Losing her innocence had left her bitter and swearing vengeance, used her healing powers to gain influence over others for this purpose. The instruments of her revenge would be the unborn child she felt growing within her and swarms of wasps that did her bidding.

Aelish would absorb wasps into herself to give the child power to serve as a weapon of hate against its father and filling her womb with honey. Naming the girl EliŠna, she would be raised and trained to be a warrior only to prove willful and disobedient. It wasn't that she couldn't learn and wasn't training, it was that she didn't see a war that others began as her war to fight. During an endurance run, EliŠna escaped her guardians and ran high into the mountains. There, she discovered what was left of a clutch of dragon eggs and a dying baby dragon which had hatched but was not fully formed. Having inherited her mothers abilities, EliŠna summoned wasps to consume and become one with the dragon making it whole and restoring its life energies.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When she returned home, she promised her mother that she would comply with her wishes in return that she be allowed to keep the creature as a pet. EliŠna would honor her word as the little dragon seemed to bring out her maternal side and a desire to excel. This would not come without its problems as the little dragon was a fire-spitter and it became very protective of EliŠna seeing in her a mother figure. Naming the dragon Firehead for this reason, it would be the first of its kind possessing a bright golden head that was often ablaze or semi-transparent revealing the skull beneath. As she reached womanhood, she fell into conflict with her mother who, by this time, had allowed her hatred to twist her into a monstrous evil preying on her own peoples.

Learning that her father and grandmother had been killed in battle, EliŠna found no fault in the stepbrother that replaced them. He was proving a good king who only wanted what was best for his people and yet, her mother sought his destruction because his fathers sin now was his to bear. Taking up residence on a floating landmass called OileŠin Foiche (Wasp Island), EliŠna formed an alliance with her stepbrother hoping to undo the evils she had set loose upon the world. Creating her own castle and kingdom, EliŠna drove her mother to madness seeking her destruction by pulling OileŠin Foiche itself from the heavens. It would prove an error in judgment on Aelish's part as her blind hatred brought OileŠin Foiche down upon her own kingdom causing her destruction.

Survivors would find themselves under assault by a large breed of wasp having both a poisonous sting and the ability to breathe fire. Possessing the power to kill or to paralyze, they would burrow beneath the skin forming parasitic or symbiotic relationships with those they attacked. These were also honey producing wasps called the Teɸnets Kʷennom (aka Firehead), a Wasp-Dragon supposedly formed from the blood of EliŠna's dragon and whose honey had the power to heal when eaten or immersed within it. EliŠna would be placed into a chamber full of this honey in the depths beneath OileŠin Foiche for this reason and then... she became forgotten. What had been OileŠin Foiche was now a mountain and a new peoples calling themselves the Koth emerged from the survivors.

The Koth were a vicious people and the Kingdom of Koth became known for savagery unlike any other. When the Black Dragon Emperor returned, he made the mountain his base of operations on multiple occasions. He would even create catacombs beneath the castle for those most loyal either bound to him by blood or by service. Still calling it OileŠin Foiche, the Dead King would physically relocate the mountain into the Imperial House of Victorian Night, an act made possible because it was not originally part of this land. This left a void beneath which were discovered the chambers where EliŠna had been placed to heal. An enormous temple complex would be built at the location, an artificial mountain of stone capped with amber within which priest-kings had placed EliŠna.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The priest-kings and queens who ruled the Kingdom of Koth venerated EliŠna as a goddess of the eclipse as the fossilized amber gathered sunlight casting her shadow across the land. When she finally gained the power to break free, she had her former prison carved into a throne and became the new Queen of Koth. EliŠna now ruled a peoples unlike she had known before but recognized in them a hybrid of human and her dragon Firehead. The newest among them tended to be those who otherwise had been disabled, aged or dying... they had been healed and renewed even from unliving flesh. By physically merging with the dead, the cells of the Teɸnets Kʷennom replicate rapidly through the body imprinting and revitalizing even as they mutated and transformed them.

The Koth would become a new species that evolved through stages beginning with the ability to lay eggs with secondary tongues. Lesser creatures become hosts to the eggs which hatch inside them, undergo metamorphosis and emerge as Teɸnets Kʷennom. Beginning with the Teɸnets Kʷennom, the life cycle of the Koth begins when they merge with a host. This symbiotic relationship then evolves further as they become less and less humanoid until becoming a form of flightless wyvern whose speed, agility and leaping ability as attack beasts made them excellent mounts. These mounts couldn't breathe fire like those gifted with flight, but they created venom from their mouths which they licked onto the large, sickle-shaped claw on each foot.

As Imperial Magistrate, the Dead King often works through priest-kings called the Tenebrae, the Shadows of Death who lay imprisoned within the walls of his chamber until summoned forth. The Tenebrae are sons and daughters from past incarnations of the Black Dragon Emperor who survived because of that part of himself imparted into them. When summoned, each acts as a lesser Magistrate representing his "voice" along with that of the Dead Queen and Tamron even if pursuing their own interests as well. Always obedient to their father, the Tenebrae understand that they exist at his disposal and the life they possess can be reclaimed by him if they disobey.
