    Ogres

    Øgres
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Øgres are an ancient race considered among the most monstrous of humanoid species. Driven on by a voracious hunger that defines their nature, Øgres even go so far as to devour their own kind. They are known as an inbred race which may explain why they are so brutal and unrepentant for the victims of their savagery. Øgres take great pleasure in their cruelty and often sport scars from injuries inflicted upon them by other Øgres as they enjoy the pain as much in the receiving as the giving of it.

Inbreeding also contributes to deformities which rarely prove debilitating because their bodies are extremely adaptable. Although no one would consider Øgres the most intelligent of creatures, there are some among them who prove extremely dangerous simply because this doesn't apply to them. An intelligent Øgre, or Øgress, can command legions of their fellow Øgres and even become powerful in the ways of sorcery.

    Appearance
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Clade representing Øgres has many variances where several races and sub-races have branched off from the original bloodline. The main branch begins when their mothers abandon them in the care of another species. Raised among these other peoples, Øgres know what they are from the moment of birth. They may be larger and a bit uglier than others in this species, but the ruse is rarely discovered unless their bodies are dissected. While their outside may be a perfect copy of this other race, their internal organs are those of an Øgre.

When they reach thirty, the second stage of their lives begins as a transformation takes place. They begin to change into Øgres outwardly and they cannot hide what they are without the use of magick. A True Øgre is stoutly built, muscular and they become much bulkier. Their skin colors tend to be "earth" tones such as green, brown or gray and are often covered in scars. Hormone issues cause them to be sweaty and they have a stench about them that doesn't seem to bother them so Øgres rarely bathe.

A True Øgre doesn't have horns. But they do possess two flesh covered nubs on his forehead where horns would have been in some cases because King Øg had horns. Instead, a True Øgre will have a series of sharp points across their skull hidden by their hair. Øgres often have missing digits and limbs due to their violent lives while rarely having disabilities. No matter what harm befalls an Øgre, they will find a way to compensate to remain strong enough to prevent being eaten by other Øgres.

Øgres are generally hairy with the hair on their face (males) and scalp being thick and long. This is not a given as some tribes shaved hair off their scalp until little or no hair now grows on it.

Inbreeding can create deformities. However, these deformities are often throwbacks to the various bloodlines used to create their species. They might have two heads, a single eye, horns (or a single horn), extra digits or even an additional arm or two as examples. If the deformities are too great, they will be forced to live solitary lives or to join other groups who will be more accepting of them.

They can possess between one to four eyes. This is not viewed as a deformity, however, as it is seen more as a racial trait. Their canines are oversized and often likened to small tusks while the rest of their teeth are more aking to spikes (although many will be broken).

A Half-Øgre is a being who never fully develops the second stage of an Øgres appearance or who has somehow been afflicted, in some manner, with being partly transformed into an Øgre. Anything other than this claimed to be an Øgre will become Øgre food if they can't prove themselves worth interbreeding with True Øgres.

    Culture
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Øgre society is based almost entirely on violence and vile behavior. There's is a society that ranges from Anarchism to being a Kyriarchy. There have been Kings and Queens among them but such things rarely last because royal families fall against one another as soon as the reigning sovereign dies. They are neither matriarchal or patriarchal as those with the greatest strength, cunning and intellect rise to positions of leadership as long as they can maintain their followers' respect.

Any children living among Øgres are raised in a communal setting protected by Øgresses that may have some vague maternal instincts. These children are often not born as Øgres but are stolen children that weren't eaten and these children will eventually become True-Øgres or Half-Øgres. While rare, it does happen and is another way Øgres replenish their numbers.

Øgres tend to live simple lives living in caves and other natural formations when they are alone or few in number. Where they live as a tribe, they create huts from wood and animal skins. They might take over abandoned cities (often abandoned because they were attacking it) in which they develop a higher standard of living but only because it was created for them.

It is a common sight to find animals being butchered and raw, bleeding flesh being lain about until it is ready to be eaten. If an Øgre breaks any of the few laws they are expected to obey, they can have parts of their body mutilated and parts of their own body served up as food.

Males outnumber females leading to a false impression that there are fewer females than there actually are. Marriage rites are performed to bond Øgres together more as business partners where the female is considered property belonging to the husband. However, there is no such thing as fidelity among Øgres nor a concept for adultery as sex is just another form of social activity. There is also no such thing as divorce as when an Øgre dies or is killed, the survivor remarries.

    Ecology
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Their reputation as despoilers is well earned. Most Øgres are so malevolent in their nature that even the trivial act of destroying a blade of grass is not beneath them. Much of what Øgres do is "for the Hell of it". There is no more explanation for it than that for most of them. There are, however, some Øgres with a higher moral compass and greater purpose who will often put as much distance between themselves and their kind as possible.

Yet, there might be more reason behind the behavior of most Øgres than is seen. Most Øgres don't just eat and destroy, they hoard. They act more like harvester ants destroying their surroundings to provide better protection and taking what they need or want because it's simply in their nature.

Female Øgres (or Øgress) are more often slimmer and more robust than the majority of males. They mature faster than males and while they possess female breasts, they serve more of a sexual function or sexual dimorphism.

They have no parental instincts beyond those of the Øgress to protect their newborns by abandoning them. Even in this they prove cruel as an Øgress seeks out mothers of other species recently blessed with children. When they find them, they devour the newborns and using their blood to place an enchantment on their own child. This transforms them into the perfect likeness of the child the Øgress consumed and then, she is done with it.

Øgres go through three growth cycles. The first begins at birth and lasts until they reach about thirty human years of age. Because so many are raised by other races (unknowingly), they closely resemble others of that species and their characteristics. Øgres who are raised among other Øgres mature faster appearing more like Half-Øgres until reaching around sixteen human years of age when they begin appearing more as True-Øgres. During this stage of development, most Øgres tend to look more similar than dissimilar regardless of race of attributes. By the human age of thirty, they are already around seven feet tall with a wide girth.

In their second stage of development, Øgres can grow up to nine feet tall and become far more stout in appearance. If they belong to different races, their racial attributes fully form and they find their way to others of their kind. Any animosities or hatreds between the Øgrish races do not exist at this time. They are shown tolerance when they first reach this stage of their development. But this quickly dissipates and they either find their way or suffer the consequences. This stage ends at around seventy human years of age.

The third stage in their development is when they reach their greatest height of fourteen feet tall or more. Those who survive to reach this stage will experience diminishing intellect until only their animal instincts remain. Their strength increases tenfold and their flesh becomes as hard as organic stone. Whatever their physical attributes were, these become more greatly exaggerated. While they typically will die and turn to stone by one-hundred and forty human years of age, they can hibernate for many years at a time. Øgres who hibernate can become truly monstrous as they will continue to grow both in size and power without aging.

    Powers & Abilities
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Øgres are known for their strength but not for lasting durability unless beaten to make them put in greater effort. They possess an extremely advanced healing and immune system preventing harm from disease. If injured, their flesh excretes a healing enzyme that immediately begins to repair damage. While they can be left disabled or scarred, Øgres rarely die from their injuries. Øgres cannot be poisoned because they can eat almost anything and convert it to energy including the deadliest potential food sources.

It is almost impossible for Øgres to starve. While they prefer to survive as omnivores, they can digest soil like detritivores, eat rocks like lithotrophs, breath chemicals like methanotrophs and even absorb nutrients through their skin which includes oxygen, water and food. Thus, it is very difficult to impossible to kill them by depriving them of nutrients. It is even possible for them to excrete slime like sweat to dissolve surrounding nutrients if completely immobile. Of course, these are survival traits as Øgres prefer meat and are known to pursue extreme means to get it.

Among Øgres, the ability to pursue knowledge and intellectual fields, is considered an ability because most do not endeavor in such pursuits. If they just go about their lives never trying to improve themselves intellectually, the worse off their comprehension skills become in their later years. But, if they do pursue knowledge, they retain more intelligence in their later years and it benefits them among their kind in many ways.

    Vulnerabilities
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For as durable as Øgres are, they can be killed and few live beyond thirty who aren't a bit more intelligent than the rest. Cutting off their heads is the easiest way to kill and Øgre and be guaranteed to get the job done. Stabbing them in the heart will often kill them unless the object used to stab them is removed too quickly allowing their healing powers to prevent death even if their heart remains damaged. Øgres have various allergies because of their healing abilities overreacting. Thus, while they can't be poisoned or killed by disease, they can be sickened, made weak or even disabled by allergies.

Because of their advanced immune system and healing abilities, Øgres must often conceal themselves. While a benefit in most ways, witnessing their survival can itself give away what they are during the first stage of their development. Likewise, their internal anatomy is more like that of tigers and oxen so that dissecting them or listening to their heartbeat would also reveal what they are. Øgres also have a small amount of Đwerȝaz blood meaning they have a vulnerability to sunlight under certain circumstances. Intense sunlight can cause them to slow, their skin to harden and they can be turned to stone if exposure lasts for a much longer period than normal. This is a rare vulnerability for most and, for some, all it does is make them a greater threat as their enchanted blood protects them from becoming immobilized as it can Đwerȝaz.

    Øgres Blood
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As already stated, Øgres blood is enchanted as a result of their unique evolution and King Øg's use of sorcery to fortify his own blood to purify it. This allows some to inherently use magick such as when an Øgress transforms her child to aid in its survival. Because their ancestors mixed their blood with Trølls, Øgres possess a version of the Trøll Curse but tend to be more similar than dissimilar in their appearance, unlike Trølls. An Øgres skin can be turned into leather and made harder than stone when heat is applied making it excellent for weapons or shields. If they have the intelligence level and understand what they are doing before becoming Øgres, they might use sorcery to become Half-Øgres or even avoid becoming True-Øgres altogether. Some Øgres practice various forms of "blood alchemy" using their enchanted blood and basic arcane knowledge of the supernatural that doesn't require intellect as much as it requires practice.

Because their blood is enchanted, it is sought after by practitioners of sorcery and alchemy as it can act as fuel for any magickal incantations which affect the body. It is highly prized by healers and sorcerers for its miraculous healing powers for this reason. Unfortunately, if the person using Øgres blood for this reason isn't prepared or knowledgeable enough, they can actually cause the person to become an Øgre in one form or another. When dried into a powder, Øgres blood can cause physical harm to any whose blood is mixed with their own, it can ward off demons, be used to create explosives and to create a toxic smoke to kill or render unconscious anyone who inhales it (explaining why practitioners wear masks to filter it out). As an ink, it gives written spells more power and can summon the Øgre to serve the holder of the book while living or after they have died by creating new bodies of earth for them. While it can heal, Øgres blood can also be made into the deadliest of poisons.

    Cyclōpean Roots

    ----------------------------------------------
Øgres are an ancient species whose origins lay among several races of Giants and Trølls. Their earliest beginnings can be traced to a race of Cyclōpean Gods and an offshoot from them known for their voracious appetites. These Cyclōpes would be the formative race from which all True-Øgres would descend. Legends would say that a Cyclōpes named Pelórios (πελώριος) lost a battle to become ruler over the Cyclōpean Gods and an exile from the lands he called home. Pelórios began an epic adventure leading him to many lands where giants ruled. From his adventures, a new kingdom arose and he was chosen to rule over it as its king. Those he ruled over had come from many tribes as exiles and renegades; the Etunąz, the Jötnar, Anakim, þurs, Emite, Gigāns, Laisêions, Risar, Centimanes, Ojáncanu, Ispolini, Mairu, Basajaun, Fomoiri and Sitecah to name but a few whose blood gave form to a new race called the Raphaim.

    ----------------------------------------------
    King Øg

    ----------------------------------------------

It is from one of the Raphaim that a bloodline of powerful Amorite kings. He had found his way into the World of Men through a doorway between worlds fathering Raphaim among humans. The Raphaim were said to be the reincarnated souls of kings, queens and conquerors from the past upon whose remains their newborns fed. One of these married a Half-Trøll of royal blood whose son would become an Amorite king. He founded the Kingdom of Øg Bashan which was named for him. This king would marry a demoirgon named Thevru aisar Ati (Mother of Bulls) who was descended from the Celsclan, giants sired by the God of Death Orkus and the Earth Goddess Cel. One of their daughters would marry the Malka ad eHshukha (King of Darkness) who called himself the Archfiend Semjâzâ, the most powerful of the Iyrin Archdevils. Together, they would sire a child they named ‘Ûj ibn ‘Anâq who would grow into a brutish man who inherited the kingdom created by his great-grandfather.

As ruler, he took his ancestors name becoming King Øg (Øg meaning gigantic) and sought out surviving Raphaim to create a new tribe called the Øg. Although oversized for most humans, King Øg otherwise looked human until reaching the age of thirty when his features and size began to change. Only then would it be revealed that he was something wholly unique in the world as King Øg was the first True-Øgre. Standing at around nine feet tall possessing a demons horns, wings and bone crushing teeth; King Øg was a powerhouse of pure destructive rage! Even the Raphaim saw him as an abomination for his hungers as he had a taste for human flesh and the Raphaim of this world were themselves part human. King Øg abandoned his capital at Ashteroth Karnaim (Astarte of the Horns) to establish a new capital at Edre'i. He then began a war with his brother Sihøn who was king of Heshbon until slaying and devouring him.
    ----------------------------------------------
    Øgrheimr

    ----------------------------------------------

King Øg turned his brothers head into a cup with which to anoint a new lord of Heshbon. His royal cup-bearer Arši-Aha would be given the name Sihøn as a vassal lord and became the first Half-Øgre. After several decades upon the throne, his vassals fell one by one to his enemies forcing King Øg on campaigns where the very sight of him often caused his enemies to flee before him. Then came the Battle of Edrei where King Øg faced a warrior prince with the power to defeat him. King Øg would retreat to a location called Rujm el-Hiri (stone heap of the wild cat) which the Raphaim constructed believing it to be the doorway their ancestor came through. There, Raphaim disloyal to King Øg would summon a whirlwind casting themselves and their king to a world unknown to them. When the storm lifted, King Øg would exact his vengeance upon the Raphaim who had banished him and force the survivors to serve him as he set out to explore these new surroundings unfamiliar to him.

This was a time following the War of Gods when confusion and chaos ensued giving King Øg the opportunity and the means to make for himself a new kingdom on this world. His Raphaim defeated several bands of Trølls eager to join them raiding and taking plunder. Together, they created a new kingdom called Øg Karnaim and King Øg called the lands he ruled Øgrheimr to reflect his belief that he was now divinity. By mixing his own blood with that of his subjects, King Øg created his new race of True-Øgres (or Øg as he still called them) among the gods themselves. He then ordered the creation of the Book of Øg detailing the origin and early history of the Øgrish races. The most important of these are the verses dealing with the brothers Gøg & Magøg whose hatred for one another created the bloodline of King Øg. The Book of Øg would prove important in many ways because Øgrheimr would not survive long after the death of King Øg.
    ----------------------------------------------
    King Øg's Death

    ----------------------------------------------

During a war against the Þurs in which King Øg was slain and his head hurled back into the ranks of his army. King Øg's authority had been absolute and his sons sought to have the same absolute authority with none willing to support the other. Their army dissolved and the brothers began wars against one another until only one survived. King Øgias could not reunify his peoples as they became divided into the Tribes of Øg and he himself would be slain, in turn, by his Trøll wife because he had betrayed her family. The kings and queens who succeeded King Øgias would all die in battle or be assassinated weakening the kingdom further until the lesser races rebelled against them. Øgres would eventually be forced out of their homeland and this period of time might have been forgotten completely if not for the Book of Øg. Øgrheimr itself would survive as a name for the lands for generations to come until so many Øgres migrated away and crossed between worlds led to its fading use.
    ----------------------------------------------
    After The Fall

    ----------------------------------------------

Øgres would remain a threat wherever they might travel as their hunger for flesh can be overpowering. During the Old Kingdom period, Øgres had slaves to rear their offspring so that they were born and raised as Øgres. After the fall is when they began using deception to perpetuate themselves as Øgres have no parenting skills and males especially would just eat their newborns. Female Øgres learned to use their enchanted blood to change their infants features to mimick those of another child and they survive among these peoples until the age of thirty human years. Preferred victims of this practice are humans because Øgres have a taste for "human meat" and their children grow up among their potential prey as cannibals. Øgres would acquire certain traits from their "adopted" race and their own evolution would lead to the creation of many different øgrish races.

    True-Ogres

    ----------------------------------------------

The family tree of Øgres begins with King Øg but it would diverge from him as Øgres spread to distant lands. There would remain, however, the main branch from which all Øgres are descended differs in certain ways from King Øg himself. True-Øgres are stout of build, muscular and have skin color that is green with hues of brown or gray. There are two flesh covered nubs on the forehead of many and a series of sharp points across their skulls hidden by their hair. Their bones and teeth are as hard as the hardest stone and could be as hard as steel in some places like their shins, forearms, knuckles, and skull. King Øg was an earth elemental which is why their bodies heal quickly leaving only scars. Most have scars either inflicted by their violent lifestyles or by seeking pleasure as they feel pleasure as they heal. Serious injuries are different in that the pleasure response doesn't happen and while they heal rapidly, they cannot regenerate.

Øgres are known for the thick layers of hair on their heads which they wear long and all males have facial hair. Their female counterparts have only a fine type of body hair and this is not limited only to them. Because more males are born than females, only males with an Øgress mate by their side have thick body hair but not so much that the skin of their body isn't clearly visible. But, male Øgres with no Øgress are the opposite as they have only limited body hair like females and often have little hair on their head beyond facial hair. If raised from birth as an Øgre, a True-Ogre appears more like a Half-Ogre until arounf the human age of sixteen. They then begin to take on the characteristics of a True-Øgre which lasts until around the seventieth year of their lives. Most are raised by other species and take on the appearance of that species until around age thirty. Over a period of around a year, these people undergoe the changes that transform them into True-Øgres
    ----------------------------------------------
    Half-Øgres

    ----------------------------------------------

A Half-Øgre is a being who never fully becomes a True-Øgre for whatever reasons. The first of these actually emerged during the lifetime of King Øg and were called "runts" because of their slighter frames. Possibly because of their Raphaim ancestry, Half-Øgres look more human and are more intelligent than most True-Øgres. They view themselves as "diminished" due to having half the size, strength, durability and healing abilities of a True-Øgre. They lack most vulnerabilities of a True-Øgre, are faster and more agile. They are more able to wield sorcery and while often subject to True-Øgres, their increased intelligence makes them more valued by their rulers... and resented by most True-Øgres for the same reason. Half-Øgres do tend to have more pronounced spikes and horns on their heads and more brilliant color variations often having human flesh tones present. This, in turn, is true when they have offspring with other races like Örcs where they are said to smell and look like humans.
    ----------------------------------------------
    Šúmazą

    ----------------------------------------------

The Šúmazą are a breed of Half-Øgre with a longer lifespan that can survive for centuries in some cases. Although a breed of Half-Øgre, they are also part demon revealed by their pronounced horns, forked tails and other attributes like razor sharp claws. They are descended from an Øgre named Madimo who married a demonic Shetani named Unguza. The name Šúmazą (Fire Hammer) was chosen because Madimo was known for his powerful fire hammer and for their reddish-brown skin. They are fire elementals who can breathe fire and have certain low-level abilities to control fire. They possess typical traits of a Half-Øgre looking somewhat human but standing side by side with a Half-Øgre, their common traits are easy to notice. An attribute of the Šúmazą is they are fire elementals who breathe and have certain low-level abilities to control fire. Possibly the agilest and quickest of all the øgrish races, some among them also possess the ability to teleport over short distances.
    ----------------------------------------------
    Oni

    ----------------------------------------------

Oni (鬼) are more of a sub-species of Øgre rather than a true race. Females of this sub-species are viewed as a separate race called the Kijo (鬼女) and are drawn more to sorcery and seduction to achieve what they want. Oni can be shapeshifters and Kijo use this ability more to take on the appearance of beauty. When taking on their full øgrish form, they choose to appear as males which is why Kijo are often considered to be Oni by name. It is believed that Oni are born without souls as impish creatures born without souls. They are drawn to the most evil of the recently dead to steal the soul into themselves. At that point, they grow into full maturity often becoming enraged as it is a difficult rebirth for the soul which was possibly destined for divine punishment. Their external form becomes more of a reflection of their internal anatomy having the horns of an ox on their head and an Øgres bone-crushing jaws which possess oversized tiger-like teeth as hard as steel.

Most wear masks into which they place supernatural powers or to conceal their true facial appearance which may be too hideous, too beautiful, too kind or they lack horns. Within the Worlds of Shadow, Oni seek out the Abode of Purgatory where they become servants of the "King of Hell" Lord Enma. Through their servitude, their numbers have been increased as spirits of the evil, under Lord Enma's dominion, are transformed into Oni as well. They are often more powerful (and more evil.) than Øgres in general due to their demonic nature which is inherited from the Arch Devil blood flowing within them. Their skin varies more in color with red (Kijo) and blue (Oni) being the dominant colors although green, yellow, purple, orange, pink, white and black are also well known. They can shed their skin to renew themselves or even become a different color. Their favorite weapon is a Kanabō, a spiked club which fits with their devotion to ritual combat.
    ----------------------------------------------
    Rākṣhasa

    ----------------------------------------------

Rākṣhasa are an intermediate race between True-Øgres and the Oni who have mixed their blood with Orcs. Where most øgrish races have oversized lower canines, Rākṣhasa have oversized upper canines and razor-sharp claws that are as hard as steel daggers. They are known for their ability to cast illusions so real that they become real in the minds of those who see them. Their natural skin color is blue to blue-gray but they are capable of shapeshifting which makes their ability to cast illusions that much more powerful. Their hair and eyes often appear to be on fire and their favorite humanoid appearance is a cross between a [i]striped hyena and a golden langur. Their favorite animal form is a large, horned tiger with enormous bat, or bird-like, wings which they use for flight. They are primarily water elementals with the ability to change their size and they can wield the ability to control water or water based magick which takes the form of blue energy. Rākṣhasa also like to make their hands and feet oversized to increase the size of their claws.
    ----------------------------------------------
    Gøg & Magøg

    ----------------------------------------------

Hatred can be one of the most powerful and self-destructive emotions. When Øgresses began infiltrating two warring tribes that sought to exterminate one another, they did not understand this. The hatred between these peoples was so great that it became passed on even to the Øgres being raised secretly among them. When these Øgres entered into their second stage of development as True-Øgres, they would not abandon their kinsmen. Instead, they convinced them that they were powerful new weapons in their wars until only the Øgres remained. What war did not sufficiently kill, the Øgresses finished through their efforts to have their children provided for. They took the names Gøg & Magøg from the Book of Øg to be their new racial identities because they were cursed to clash for eternity creating earthquakes when they renew their struggle. Even for that, Gøg & Magøg retained many racial traits of those peoples they had supplanted.

The Gøg have lighter shades of beige to pink skin color that can become white and they have blue blood. They are shorter, stout of build aith a larger girth and are physically stronger. The Magøg are taller, more robust, physically faster and are healthier but live an average of ten human years less than the Gøg. They possess skin color ranging from brown to dark brown that can become black and they have yellow blood. Both have their bodies altered more than most Øgres by using scarification, tattooing and piercings to a much higher level. The Gøg take this to an extreme using a knife upon the stomach of their young to carve a large mouth. Using enchantments, they make it functional like their namesake. It covers a second layer of tough, muscular skin that protects their internal organs but can make expressions and even spit acid from their stomach as a weapon.
    ----------------------------------------------
    Øg'dwarg

    ----------------------------------------------

The Đwerȝaz are a minor element within the bloodline of Øgres through their mixing with Trølls. However, there are a group of Øgres who did more directly mix their blood with that of Dwarves. They took the name Øg'dwarg to define themselves meaning half Øgre/ half Dwarf. They are rejected by Dwarves due to their possessing øgrish instincts and ravenous eating habits that include cannibalism. They are the shortest, stockiest race considered to be Øgres and they earn that right by becoming among the most fierce of the entire species. All Øg'dwarg are males and their children are sired by Øgresses (for the most part) who abandon the offspring knowing their father is somewhere nearby ready to collect it. Unlike other Øgre children, these are born looking like their fathers race because the Dwarven blood within them is strong enough to shape their form. Their skin tends to be white and cracked with scarlet red hair the same color as their blood.
    ----------------------------------------------
    Kūmrā

    ----------------------------------------------

While Øgres are not known to be religious, there is a race among them serving as a religious caste. The Kūmrā began with a group calling themselves the Priest-Kings of Øg. Each would be given a blank page from the fabled Book of Øg to consume and enchantments placed upon the pages bestowed the knowledge within the book upon each of them. They would not need to read the book to know it word for word and to pass this knowledge on to certain offspring through their blood. The actual Book of Øg itself would be sealed and placed within a hidden temple on the World of Elderon where it would be unlikely to be found. The power of the pages would bring about physical changes among the Kūmrā giving their skin the texture and coloring of an alligator. They can be short and squat or tall and lean as Kūmrā come from all øgrish races and are the only ones who can claim a Brotherhood or Sisterhood among Øgres.

The Kūmrā also create orphanages (of a sort) where abandoned Øgre children can be raised. These are rare among the Øgres themselves and are small in number even where they do exist. Kūmrā operate these facilities somewhat more as work farms because the Kūmrā rely on the work of their wards to pay for their upkeep. Although they are not evil like many Øgres justly may be called, Kūmrā are strict disciplinarians. They will raise the Øgres in their care to know all the ways they are expected to live regardless which race they might belong to. But, they expect these children to get an education to better themselves when they reach the second stage in their lives. If they prove too much of a problem, the main tenet all Øgres live by comes into play... "All Flesh is Food", the mantra of all Øgres and this children will be eaten by the other children! Øgres of all races give the Kūmrā immediate respect because they represent the Holy Book and often serve as advisors to their leaders. They oversee certain rites of respect when an Øgre dies or is slain where they will be honored... and then devoured after a time of food preparation by the Kūmrā so that all present will enjoy the meal made of the deceased.

Possibly the most hideous of the Øgres and the most powerful. They do not die and continue to grow in size because the blood of Giants and Gods has altered them. No two Mōnstéras are alike but they retain the voracious appetites of their species which leads them to devour everything from which they can derive nourishment to satiate their hunger. Thankfully, Mōnstéras almost always enter a hibernating sleep when they do satisfy their hunger even for a brief moment and they might remain asleep for centuries to thousands of years as long as they are undisturbed. Øgres worship gods of volcanoes as their principle deities and volcanoes as symbols of power. As such, they tend to worship the Mōnstéras as an Øgre who has achieved godhood. They prefer to sleep in volcanos or in regions of volcanic activity because these are areas where the earth element is at its most powerful. A Mōnstéras can be slain or destroyed with great effort and unimaginable sacrifice even the Gods themselves fear to make. The best way to deal with a Mōnstéras is to put them back to sleep and find a means to teleport them beyond the Worlds of Shadow where they might sleep for eternity doing no one harm.
