    Dragons of Frostsfyre

Across the world of Frostsfyre, there exist great wingless beasts known as the Dreki (dragons). These are great lumbering beasts often found slumbering in their natural elements until awakened to hunt for food or to become enslaved as beasts of war. There are four major breeds of dragon known as the Bál Dreki (fire dragon), the HélaDreki (ice dragon), the Sjó Dreki (sea dragon) and the Styrm Dreki (storm dragon). Myths speak of their creation being a result of the Great Beast Jörmungandr shedding its skin which was then eaten by Níðhöggr. The result of this feast would be the birth of the Dreki, creatures that are battle-born and bred whose lust for destruction is often controlled by Dýrdróttnar (beastmasters).

Whether or not their origin is true, Jörmungandr survives in an energy form surrounding Frostsfyre. The occasional meteorite which falls from the heavens around Jörmungandr often results in the birth of a new Dreki possessing much greater power than those born on this world. Depending on where they fall to Frostsfyre, the Dreki will take on the elemental powers that surround it. They do not, however, possess the ability to breath fire. Instead, their presence affects their surroundings with the most powerful being the Styrm Dreki as while they are made of living stone, their presence can summon forth gale force winds. More powerful even than the Styrm Dreki are the hybrids created when they mate with a dragon representing another element.

These lumbering leviathans are not true dragons nor are they dinosaurs. They are, instead, creatures similar to giant lizards or komodo dragons from old Hollywood dinosaur movies.
