    Disney Buys Lucasfilm

Well the rumors are true as Disney bought Lucasfilm with plans for Part 7 to be finished in the Star Wars saga in 2015, then complete the series with Part 8 and Part 9. Then, every two years, they will release a new Star Wars movie. The cost was $4.05 billion dollars and means there will also be more Indiana Jones.

George Lucas will remain as a creative consultant and is speaking this up as a great move to expand the Star Wars universe when it is well known that Lucas was basically forced into the latter trilogy he produced... and it showed as most fans felt disappointed by each of the "pre-Vader" movies. Rumor has it that after the original nine episodes are completed, we may see Vader Lives where the Force brings Vader back bigger and more powerful than ever as a living embodiment of the Dark Side. Rumors... gotta love them.

But to be very honest, this is a great move for Star Wars fans because after the original series, Lucas became the weakest link. He even told people he felt Star Wars destroyed his directorial career because he could never get out from under Star Wars shadow. So let's hope this is a good move albeit, it sounds to me like Disneys milking the proverbial cow here and really pushing the franchise beyond it's actual worth exploiting it rather than making a great film from the series.

    What are your thoughts?
